BANG ON A CAN MARATHON 20th ANNIVERSARY
Saturday, June 2, 8pm-Sunday, June 3, 10pm :: Winter Garden
In 1987, the first Bang on a Can Marathon in New York City exploded many of the myths surrounding contemporary music. This year, as a co-presentation with World Financial Center, BoaC is set to make history again with a 26-hour, round-the-clock mix of mind-boggling, genre-bending music. A continuous stream of pioneering artists from around the globe will take the stage in the Winter Garden for an informal musical adventure. The Bang on a Can Marathon begins Saturday night at 8pm and continues without stopping until 10pm on Sunday, so come and go as you like or stay all night long.
Take special note of Kids Can Too! at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 2nd on the Battery Park City Esplanade Plaza. Bring your kids, hang out along the river and hear an awesome set of fun and unusual music featuring Bang on a Can electric guitarist and instrument inventor Mark Stewart, the central Asian sound wizards Mashriq from Uzbekistan, Talujon Percussion Quartet and instruments you've never seen or heard before!
