
Governors Island will open for visitors at 10 AM on June 2nd! Go early and enjoy all the Island has to offer. The Family Festival kicks off at 12:30 PM and will feature children's theater, sea-shanties, puppet making workshops, yo-yo artists, musicians, storytelling, face painting and more! Visitors to Governors Island are also invited to:
Have a picnic on the historic Parade Ground;
Take a leisurely one-mile bike ride;
Tour the National Historic District and visit the Island's two forts and historic structures;
Relax under the trees of Colonel's Row and enjoy summer concerts and programs every Saturday.
Governors Island is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 5 PM from June 2nd to September 2nd.
Governors Island is only minutes away from Lower Manhattan and is accessible only by ferry.
Ferries leave every hour on the hour from 10 AM-3 PM from the Battery Maritime Building at the intersection of South and Whitehall Streets, adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. Arrive early, as access to the ferry is on a first come first served basis. More information!!
Another season highlight includes:
Saturday, June 30: Dance China NY - The Professional Dance Company of the New York Chinese Cultural Center.
Watch as this accomplished troupe performs six traditional dances including the Ribbon Dance and take part in a 15-minute interactive dance workshop where select audience members dance on stage.
