Wynton Marsalis will host the season's final Jazz for Young People Concert, How Do We Create Jazz Moods?, at the Apollo Theater on Friday, May 18th—and our first graders will be there! (Thanks, Mary!!)
Wynton and friends will show the children how jazz music’s changing tones, colors, rhythms and tempos can take us from being “Kind of Blue” to “Struttin’ with Some Barbeque!”
This event aptly follows up last week's in-school classical music concert by Yibin Li, who demonstrated how her violin can communicate sadness and happiness, lethargy and frenzy.
How Do We Create Jazz Moods? also will be performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall on Satuday, May 19 at 12 noon and 2 PM. Tickets!
