Asia Society Family Day, Saturday, May 5th!! FREE for Kids under 16!!


Asia Society and Museum presents
Family Day: What's Your Story?
Saturday - May 5, 2007 - Noon- 3pm

The Family Day Program Series offers fun for the whole family. Performances, storytelling, arts and crafts activities teach you and your kids about Asian cultures and traditions. Asia Society is located at 725 Park Avenue at 70th Street.

Noon - 12:30 pm (8th Floor) Japanimation/Anime Workshop

2:00 - 2:30 Japanese anime (cartoons)
Noon - 12:45 pm (8th Floor) Make a Book and Tell Your Story Workshop

1:00 - 1:45 story and learn to create your original magaZine using
2:00 - 2:45 traditional Asian papers, and things around you.
Noon - 12:45 pm (Auditorium) Bharatanatyam Dance Workshop

1:00 - 1:45 Learn to use hands and body to tell stories!
Bharatanatyam dance is a dramatic art of story telling
from South India.
1:00 - 1:30 pm (Meet at 12:55) Exhibition Tour: Art of Sasanian Iran
2nd Floor Gallery Landing Docent: Phoebe Jensen: Visit Glass Guilding and Grand
Design: Art of Sasanian Iran (224-642) and let the
Sasanians tell you stories.
1:00 - 2:00 pm (8th Floor) Chinese American Craft Workshop
(with book sales and signing)
Instructor: Valerie Petrillo, Author of "A Kid's Guide
to Asian American History" : Create a tiger hat.
Workshop is followed by a book signing by the author.
2:15 - 3:00 pm (Auditorium) Hip Hop Workshop
Instructor: Ryan Takemiya: Hip Hop dance may look
hard, but it can be fun for everyone! In this workshop,
Hip Hop and Breakdancer Ryan Takemiya will teach
the basic steps of the different original Hip Hop styles
and will have you out on the dance floor in no time!
This Family Day Program is FREE with museum admission ($10 for grownups) and FREE for children under 16.
