How are Scholastic's book fair selections made? Twice a year, a group of 15 expert editors in children's publishing gather to select the books that will be featured in each season's Book Fairs. They consider approximately 2,000 books presented by over 30 major publishers and over 150 smaller publishers. They evaluate titles based on 20 different categories such as book covers, illustrations, content, language, cultural diversity, character development, plot, kid appeal, market balance and fit, current trends, reading level, and price.
