Brooklyn Botanic Garden has over 200 flowering cherry trees, many of which will be blooming in time for this weekend's Japanese-themed celebration of the cherry blossom. Learn about Japanese culture with over 60 events and performances including the Okinawan pop sounds of happyfunsmile, a J-pop concert by Tokyo sensation ZAN, hip-hop artist Akim Funk Buddha's "Urban Tea Ceremony," a taiko drum concert by the kids from the Genki Daiko team, and a presentation on the history of geisha by documentary filmmaker Miyuki Sohar.
