April is Poetry Month!

Open your middle-schooler's mind to a world of language with these poetry collections and free-verse novels: Poetry for Preteens!

Treat your child to stories in verse and poetry collections that make learning to read a delight: Poetry for Beginning Readers!

Discover a world of rhythm, rhyme, and free verse with engaging collections and novels for middle readers: Poetry for Independent Readers!

Check out poet/artist Shel Silverstein's online Poetry Month celebration, including free poems, animations of his book excerpts, ecards, and more!

Parents, sign up for a free poem a day throughout April from the Academy of American Poets, from books published this spring.

On the subject of poetry, the kids of Class 1B are again grateful to the infinitely patient and kind Annie Wright, wife of the late, great American poet, James Wright. Her spring-themed poetry reading got the children primed and ready for spring recess!
