Meeting format:
1. Students will be divided into small groups and will be engaged in a dialogue with Task Force members about their middle school experience. Students will be asked a number of questions about what they think works and what they think doesn’t work in their middle school.
2. Parents, teachers and others in attendance will also be divided into small groups to discuss their views of middle schools in NYC.
3. Groups will be brought back together to debrief on their responses to the question.
The Middle School Task Force is chaired by Dr. Pedro Noguera, a professor in the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University, the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education, the co-Director of the Institute for the study of Globalization and Education in Metropolitan Settings (IGEMS), and father of Mr. Joaquin Noguera.
